bIG fONT likes to take music and "fONTACISE" it. You don't hear our style of music a lot: we don't play at a loud volume, we don't play electric instruments (although we do amplify our acoustic ones), and we don't care if you turn to your neighbor to visit while we play. Of course, most folks don't visit much while we play, due to the "fONTASMS" they experience while listening to our music...
Thacher Carter plays a unique east coast "Piedmont" finger-picking style of guitar accentuated by "Da Pinch." When you hear it, you'll know it. He also sings and has written some tunes.
Bob Johnston plays upright bass in the trio and was classically trained. Since then his ears have taken over.
Jeffrey Townsend, like most keyboard players, has always wanted to play drums instead. (At least, this is what he thinks.)
Throw this into the blender and out comes a fresh style of music that feels comfortable - like an old pair of shoes - and new at the same time. Regardless of whether the song was written yesterday or 60 years ago, bIG fONT makes it unique.
